SatNav Shoes - Shoes with GPS Technology

02 April, 2009

Imagine you are navigating through some odd streets of a foreign country without having a map or an iPhone. What you’ll do? All you need is a pair of shoes that have a built-in GPS navigation system. This shoes itself will direct you through the unknown roads and will help you to find your way. The shoes work by typing a postal code into the display on the tongue.

The left shoe contains the control unit which is accessible from under the tongue. You simply need to key in the starting and destination postcodes. At the tip of the each shoe, there’s an LED bubble which acts as a visual guide. As you can see in the screenshot, the LED bubble will show you the Left/Right/Up/Down way. Moreover, it sounds a loud alert beep if you’re heading in the wrong direction.

The heel of the shoe is equipped with the waterproof speakers that produce voice guidance messages like “Turn Left” or “Next Right”. For those who don’t want their shoes to broadcast this kind of messages, there’s a Bluetooth connection which you can use through your mobile phone to listen to the instructions.

The amazing SatNav Shoes is powered by two rechargeable AA batteries fitted at the sole of the shoe. The fully charged batteries will power the shoes for up to 2.5 hours.

The SatNav Shoes are exclusively available at Firebox for £129.95. Currently it’s only available to the addresses within UK as stated by the website.

Thanks Firebox for images.
